the meaning behind sustainable bliss

written by Jasmine Irven

Sustainable Bliss started as a conversation. A conversation (or rather internal argument) I was constantly having with myself about the importance of promoting and inspiring holistic wellness in a way that was not overwhelming but rather tangible, sustainable, and simple for those who are looking to change their life and the planet.

sustainable bliss means creating lasting change in your daily life - change that’s sustainable for you, your body, and the environment. — Jasmine Irven

I’m an empath. There’s literally no getting around it. I’ve always been overly sensitive to the feelings of others, to the energy that surrounds me, and to the on-goings of the world.

And while I think empathy is so important (for connection, compassion, etc.), it also means that the more I learn about all life’s tragedy, from climate change to poverty to abuse to corruption, I’ve found my sensitivities to continue to grow, becoming increasingly taxing on my body and soul.

As I swing back and forth on a pendulum of emotions, I go from experiencing periods of complete despair feeling like it’s too late and nothing can be done, to embodying feelings of motivation and drive to do everything in my power I can to make a difference throughout my time here on this planet.

In the midst of these two extremes I’ve found balance – a mindset shift where I can focus on positive action in my own life through sustainable change, and then sharing and inspiring that change among others.

I’ve been continually inspired by the idea that small actionable steps have the most impact over time, rather than going full-force into something and not being able to maintain it without draining yourself.

Sustainable Bliss means making small, simple changes in your life that are nourishing rather than taxing, it means finding happiness in the mundane with a focus on slow living, it means being a conscious consumer and recognizing the impact that you can have on the world, and it means creating lasting change in your daily life - change that’s sustainable for you, your body, and the environment.

Sustainable Bliss started as a conversation, and I hope to use this platform and others to continue to build that conversation.
